October 2005 - The Queen is Crowned
Belle's first full hunting season was about a good as it can get for a young dog. On her
very first hunt for grouse and woodcock, she wasn't out of the truck for five minutes
when she locked up on her first timberdoodle. She got plenty of bird contacts that first
year - both grouse and woodcock - but finding "mud bats" quickly became her
specialty. Many who have hunted over her since call her "The Woodcock Queen" and
it's a title that she's definitely earned. In her first five hunting seasons, more than 200
were taken over her pretty points by a score of different hunters.
