October 2007 - Shona's First Season
Shona was just a little over a year old when the woodcock flights came through
Northern Wisconsin in October 2007 during our week-long "Grouse Camp." On this
special day, my brother, Ken, and I linked up with our good friend, Ron Hoth, of
Traverse City, MI. Apart from being a life-long grouse and woodcock hunter, Ron is
fantastic wingshooter and an even better wingshooting mentor. I've learned a ton from
Ron over the years. And Shona learned a ton about grouse and woodcock hunting as
she produced lots of birds for the three of us on a excellent morning hunt. We each
shot a limit of woodcock in the first hour and a half and added a couple grouse to the
bag later that day.
