| October 2008 - A Good Day's Work By late in the week of 2008 Grouse Camp, Boon and Belle both earned a full day off to rest and recover. As a result, Shona got the call to be the "all day" dog. She proved that she had the stamina to hang in there as we pounded out a lot of miles in Florence County, WI. We ended up with four nice ruffs in the bag including a HUGE red phase male (second bird from the top) that she got the drop on in some open aspen. I knew Shona had the promise to be a good grouse dog, but on this hunt she really earned my respect for handling some cagey adult birds. |
