October 2008 - Champion Grouse Dog
After several years of tough training and testing, Boon finally earned his NAVHDA
Versatile Champion title in August of 2008. I attribute much of the patience that he
needed to achieve that title came from his tremendous amount of experience on ruffed
grouse. After a great morning hunt in Forest County, WI, I set him up for this picture. I
didn't know it would turn out so well - with Boon looking so calm, composed and
comfortable in his maturity. The picture generated a short story about Boon's NAVHDA
career and I submitted both to Versatile Hunting Dog magazine. I was surprised and
honored when the photo made the cover of the October 2009 issue and the article was
published right along with it. Clearly, I'm pretty proud of my best buddy.
