December 2009 - Christmas Grouse
My older brother, Dan, has been an avid grouse hunter way longer than me.  He always
has an annual goal of shooting at least one grouse during his time off around the
Christmas holiday.  This time Boon and I got to join him on a classic late December day
in Oconto County, WI.  Late season grouse hunting in the deep snow can definitely be
challenging.  But we had a lot of flushes, plenty of laughs, and we each managed to put
a bird in the bag.  The one that Dan bagged was a true red phase - complete with an
auburn tail margin and ruff.  Truly a gem of a Christmas gift for him and Boon.
