November 2008 - Long Retrieve Through The Wheat Stubble
One of the main ideas behind having a well-trained versatile hunting dog is about
conserving game.  Every once in a while you know you hit a bird, but it just keeps
going.  That was the case with this big ol' rooster that Belle pointed and eventually
retrieved for me.  After I was sure I hit it twice, it soared across a good 200 yards of
wheat stubble before I saw it hit the dirt pretty hard near standing corn.  I lined up
Belle toward the mark and sent her.  It didn't take her long to come back with our prize.
