October 2007 - The Real Deal
It actually took me a lot longer to learn how to hunt ducks than it took me to train
Boon to become an effective non-slip retriever. Fortunately, I've got a little bit of an
ear for music and learned to blow a duck call well enough to bring 'em in. So after lots
of preparation, Julie and I eventually made a dedicated duck hunting trip to the
prairie potholes near Cando, ND. Our goal was to give the dogs a chance to apply what
they learned in their Utility training. This is Boon bringing a nice greenhead back
through the deeks that I called in and Julie knocked down. It was an incredibly
rewarding trip and it definitely makes me want to spend a lot more time in the duck
blind. The dogs would agree...
